Official Announcement | On January 17, 2013, in Yakima, Washington, the Postal Service™ will issue a 33-cent Apples definitive stamp, in four designs in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) pane of 20 (Item 116200) and a pressure-senstive adhesive (PSA) coil of 100 (Item 789500). The stamp will go on sale nationwide January 17, 2013. These cheerful stamps, denominated at the postcard rate, feature colorful illustrations of four varieties of apples: the Baldwin, the Granny Smith, the Golden Delicious, and the Northern Spy. The stamp art was illustrated with pen and ink and watercolor, with some additional detail added on the computer. Designed by art director Derry Noyes, Apples features the work of John Burgoyne. |
Security | "USPS" is Microprinted near the stem of each apple. |
Note | The 2013 date is in the top left hand corner of the design, and is placed vertically |
Note | These stamps are normally collected as PS9 (plate strips of 9) with the plate numbered stamp in the middle and the same design without a plate number at each end. |
