Official Announcement | On February 7, 2014, in Kansas City, Missouri, the U.S. Postal Service® will issue a 34-cent Hummingbird stamp, (the new postcard rate stamp), in one design in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) pane of 20 stamps (Item 117200) and the other in a coil of 100 (Item 774600) produced by Ashton Potter. The stamp goes on sale nationwide February 7, 2014. The stamp will feature a blue-tinted, highly stylized, digital image of a hummingbird, a type of bird that uses its extra long bill and tongue to sip nectar from tubular flowers. Nancy Stahl illustrated the stamp, under the direction of Carl T. Herrman. To learn more about the stories behind the stamps, visit https://www.usps.com/stamps/. |
Note | The date, 2014, is in the lower left corner of the stamp. Plate 22222 was discovered in April, 2014. The new number was reportably used because of a change in paper. |
