Official Announcement On August 15, 2007, in Washington, DC, the Postal Service™ will issue a 41-cent, definitive stamp, American Flag (2007).The stamp will be available in the following formats:
  • Pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) double sided booklet of 20 (Item 677500).
  • PSA booklet of 10 (Item 677000).
  • PSA coil of 100 (Item 784800).
  • PSA coil of 3,000 (Item 84900).
  • PSA coil of 10,000 (Item 785800).

The stamp, designed by Richard Sheaff of Scottsdale, Arizona, goes on sale nationwide August 15, 2007.

How to Order First Day of Issue Postmark
Customers have 60 days to obtain the first day of issue postmark by mail. They may purchase new stamps at their local Post Office™, or at The Postal Store®Web site at www.usps.com/shop, or by calling 800-STAMP-24. They should affix the stamps to envelopes of their choice, address the envelopes (to themselves or others), and place them in a larger envelope addressed to:

After applying the first day of issue postmark, the Postal Service will return the envelopes through the mail. There is no charge for the postmark. All orders must be postmarked by October 14, 2007.

Stamp Fulfillment Services also offers first day covers for new stamp issues and Postal Service stationery items postmarked with the official first day of issue cancellation. Philatelic Products
There are three philatelic products available for this stamp issue:
  • Item 677061, First Day Cover, $0.79.
  • Item 784861, First Day Cover, $0.79.
  • Item 784961, First Day Cover, $0.79.
Distribution: Item 784800, $41.00 American Flag, PSA Coil of 100
All SDOs will receive an automatic distribution of the American Flag, PSA coil of 100. Initial shipments, which begin July 30, 2007, will be completed by September 19, 2007. Distributions are rounded up to nearest master carton size (800 coils).
Initial Supply for Post Offices
SDOs will not make a subsequent automatic distribution of Item 784800 to Post Offices. All Post Offices requiring quantities of Item 784800 must order them from their designated SDO using a separate PS Form 17. SDOs must not distribute coils to Post Offices before August 9, 2007.
Additional Supply
Post Offices requiring additional coils must requisition Item 784800 from their designated SDO using PS Form 17. SDOs requiring additional coils must order them from the appropriate APD using PS Form 17.
Following the automatic distribution to SDOs, the New York and Chicago APDs will each receive 192,000 addi­tional coils; the Memphis APD will receive 172,800 additional coils; the San Francisco APD will receive 153,600 additional coils; and the Denver APD will receive 76,800 additional coils for fulfilling supplemental orders from the SDOs.
Additional quantities of this definitive stamp coil will also be made available to SDOs via future automatic distributions, shipped directly from the supplier to the SDOs.
