Ron,

Would like to share with you and you may share with other members if you like, some info on the 21¢ Bison I found on May 8th in south central Pennsylvania.

I had persuaded the local postmaster to purchase some coils and he agreed and purchased a flat of 25 rolls.

Guess what? On one coil I could see the product number looking through the bubble pack. It was on the first and second stamp from the end of the coil. That product number (end of coil) is probably uncollectable as the nearest plate number is five stamps from the end and the first stamp (last stamp at the end of the coil) has no die cut (it is straight) on the right.

SEE SCAN  FOR THE FOLLOWING: All strips shown are PS7. The top strip is what I purchased from a dealer; the bottom two strips are ones I purchased here in Pennsylvania.

LOCATION OF PRODUCT #: The product # from the dealer is mainly on the first stamp to the left of the plate # while the PA purchase is mainly on the second stamp to the left of the plate #. (SO THE PRODUCT # IS FLOATING?) Also note that the product # on the dealer purchase is nearly centered while the PA purchase is closer to the top of the stamp.

FONT SIZE: The height of the dealer strip is 6mm while the height of the PA purchase is 4mm in height and appears darker than the dealer purchase.

HORIZONTAL LINE: On the PA purchase there is a horizontal line through the entire coil. It appears to be a scrape mark of some kind, as it appears to have scraped the ink on the stamp vignette and a purplish color in the white margins. (THIS IS DIFFFICULT TO SEE IN THE SCAN)
