Official Announcement The Postal Service will issue four 32-cent Family Scenes stamps, in a pane of 50 (Item 5582) and a self-adhesive convertible booklet of 20 (Item 6649), and a 32-cent Skaters stamp (Item 5511), in a self-adhesive convertible ATM booklet of 18, on October 8, 1996, in North Pole, Alaska. The stamps go on sale nationwide October 9.

Designed by first time stamp artist Julia Talcott of Newton, Massachusetts, the illustrations on these stamps feature scenes of family, sharing, and the winter season.

Distribution —  (ATM Holiday Skaters)

SDOs and SDNs with authorized philatelic centers will receive the following automatic distribution for subsequent dis tribution to each center.

Only SDOs currently participating in the ATM program will receive an automatic distribution of these stamps and have been notified in writing of their quantities. SDOs must not distribute to post offices before October 2, 1996.

Additional Supply

All APDs will receive 156,000 stamps as back-up quantities. The Kansas City SDN will receive 180,000. Participating SDOs requiring additional stamps must order them from their APD, using a separate Form 17, Stamp Requisition, or SDN, using a separate Form 17-S, Stamp Distribution Network Stamp Requisition.

These stamp sheetlets are packaged in master cartons of 12,000 sheetlets (24 subcartons of 500 sheetlets). Sales will be restricted to post offices with authorized philatelic cen ters and ATMs included in this program.

All Other Post Offices Window clerks receiving inquiries about purchasing ATM stamps should refer customers to the Stamps etc. catalog and remind them that mail order purchases are subject to the new postage and handling fees.
