Official Announcement | The Postal Service will
issue a 32-cent American Holly stamp, in self-adhesive vendible booklets of 15 (Item 6688)
and 30 (Item 6689) and a self-adhesive convertible booklet of 20 (Item 6678) on October
30, 1997, in New York, New York. The stamp goes on sale nationwide October 31. Designed by Howard Paine of Delaplane, Virginia, and illustrated by Ned Seidler of Hampton Bay, New York, the stamp features a sprig of holly, pruned to make the berries stand out to enrich the berry color. The stamp is the latest in the Holiday Contemporary series. |

Distribution:
All stamp distribution offices (SDOs) and stamp distribution networks (SDNs) will receive one-half their standard quantities for convertible self-adhesive booklets, rounded to the nearest master carton size (4,500 booklets). SDOs and SDNs will make subsequent automatic distribution to post offices using Form 3309, Advice of Shipment/Stamp Invoice, and Form 17, Stamp Requisition. SDOs and SDNs must not distribute stamps to post offices before October 22, 1997.
Additional Supply
Post offices requiring additional stamps must requisition them from their designated SDO or SDN, using a separate Form 17. SDOs requiring additional stamps must order them from their Accountable Paper Depositories (APDs), using a separate Form 17.
The New York, New York, Chicago, Illinois, and San Francisco, California, APDs and the Kansas City, Missouri, SDN will each receive 2,200,500 stamp booklets for filling supplemental orders. The Washington, D.C., Memphis, Tennessee, and Denver, Colorado, APDs will each receive 2,196,000 stamp booklets for filling supplemental orders.
Philatelic Requirement
SDOs and SDNs with authorized philatelic centers will receive an automatic distribution of their standard philatelic quantity of these convertible self-adhesive booklets for subsequent automatic distribution to each philatelic center.
Self-Service/Vending Distribution
SDOs and SDNs will receive three distributions of the vendible booklet of 15 32-cent stamps ($4.80) (Items 6688 and 6688X) and the vendible booklet of 30 32-cent stamps ($9.60) (Items 6689 and 6689X).
