Official Announcement | The Postal Service will issue a self-adhesive souvenir sheet of ten 32-cent Sylvester & Tweety commemorative stamps (Item 5589) on April 27, 1998, in New York, New York. The stamps go on sale nationwide on the same day beginning at 1 p.m. EST (12 noon CST; 11 a.m. MST; 10 a.m. PST) and will only be sold as a souvenir sheet. No individual stamps are available. Sales of Sylvester & Tweety stamps only should be recorded in AIC 097. The stamp was designed by Brenda Guttman, Warner Bros., Burbank, California. |

Distribution[>
Stamp distribution offices (SDOs) and stamp distribution networks (SDNs) will receive approximately one-quarter of their standard automatic distribution based on the distribution quantities requested for self-adhesive booklets. Distributions are rounded up to the nearest master carton size (2,000 self-adhesive souvenir sheets). SDOs and SDNs will make a subsequent automatic distribution to post offices for one-quarter of their standard automatic distribution quantities using PS Form 3309, Advice of Shipment/Stamp Invoice, and PS Form 17, Stamp Requisition. SDOs and SDNs must not distribute stamps to post offices before April 20, 1998.
Initial Supply for Post Offices
From the first wave of distribution, SDOs and SDNs will make a subsequent automatic distribution to post offices for their full standard automatic distribution quantity using PS Form 3309, Advice of Shipment/Stamp Invoice, and PS Form 17, Stamp Requisition. SDOs and SDNs must not distribute these souvenir
Additional Supply
Additional Supply Post offices requiring additional stamps must requisition them from their designated SDO or SDN using a PS Form 17 . SDOs requiring additional stamps must order them from the appropriate accountable paper depository (APD) using PS Form 17. APDs and SDNs will have the following quantity of Sylvester and Tweety souvenir sheets available for filling supplemental orders: Kansas City SDN, 320,000; San Francisco, Chicago, Memphis, Washington, DC, and New York APDs, 310,000 each; Dulles SDN, 220,000; and Denver APD, 200,000. Also, beginning April 27, an additional 10,000,000 Sylvester and Tweety souvenir sheets will be made available for filling supplemental orders. Direct shipments to all SDOs and SDNs in proportionate quantities are scheduled for completion no later than May 19.
Philatelic Requirement
SDOs and SDNs with authorized philatelic centers will provide a subsequent automatic distribution to each philatelic center from their standard automatic distribution quantity.
Sales Policy
All post offices must acquire and maintain a supply of each new commemorative stamp as long as quantities are available, customer demand exists, or until the stamp is officially withdrawn from sale. If supplies run low, post offices must reorder additional quantities using their normal ordering procedures.
Note:
Sylvester and Tweety commemorative stamps should be recorded in AIC 097.
