Official Announcement | The Postal Service will issue a 21-cent Bison definitive stamp (Item 102100) on September 20, 2001, in Washington, DC. The stamp goes on sale nationwide September 21, 2001. The stamp designed by Carl Herrman of Carlsbad, California, and illustrated by Tom Nikosey of Bell Canyon, California, has the same design as the Bison definitive stamp issued on February 22, 2001. The stamp will be issued in two new formats: self-adhesive convertible booklets of 10 (Item 662800) and vending booklets of 10 (Item 662900). |
Varieties | This convertible booklet has been found with different horizontal die cuts. Booklets can have either 11.2 die cuts in both columns, or 10.5 and 11.2 in either the left or right column. No booklets have been found with 10.5 in both columns. The Vertical die cuts are all 11.2. |
Differences between the Convertible book and the Vending book | The stamp side of the
vending and convertible booklets are the same except that on the vending books the peel
off strip has been removed. On the cover side, there is a difference in the placement and size of the copyright notice and UPC. The vending booklet has #662900 in a smaller size, while the convertible booklet has #662800. The stamps from either booklet format are the same. |
Note | P444444 and P555555 were found in March 2002. |
End Card | Cream colored index card stock with Green Ink. Printed on one or both sides with same design. Variety exists with plate markings on reverse. Click here for photo. |
