Official Announcement

The Postal Service will issue a set of four 34-cent Flowers definitive stamps in New York, NY 10199, on February 7, 2001.

These stamps will be issued in a vending booklet of 20 (Item Number 669400); a self-adhesive two-sided booklet of 20 (Item Number 669200); and a self-adhesive coil of 100 (Item Number 776900). These stamps, designed by Derry Noyes of Washington, DC, are based on photographs by Robert Peak of Winter Park, FL, and go on sale nationwide February 8, 2001.

The photographs by Robert Peak capture the color and delicacy of four different cut flowers - a freesia, a cymbidium orchid, and two lilies. In his 25 years of artistic endeavors, Peak has been recognized and honored as a photographer, designer, and filmmaker. His fine art photographs have been featured in major publications and appear in collections worldwide.

Distribution: 669400 Flowers Vending Booklet

SDOs will receive a wave of Item Number 669400. Distribution begins January 22, 2001, and will be completed February 28, 2001. Distributions are rounded up to the nearest master carton size (4,500 stamps).

Initial Supply to Post Offices

To obtain an initial supply of Item Number 669400, 34-cent Flowers vending booklet, post offices must submit PS Form 17, Stamp Requisition, to their designated SDO. SDOs must not distribute stamps to post offices before January 31, 2001.

Additional Supply

Post offices requiring additional stamps must requisition them from their designated SDO using PS Form 17. SDOs requiring additional stamps must order them from the APD using PS Form 17.

Philatelic Requirement

SDOs with authorized philatelic centers must provide subsequent distribution of these booklets to each philatelic center from the initial automatic distribution.

Sales Policy

All post offices must acquire and maintain a supply of each new booklet as long as customer demand exists, until inventory is depleted, or until the stamp is officially withdrawn from sale. If supplies run low, post offices must reorder additional quantities using their normal ordering procedures.
