Official Announcement | The Postal Service will issue a 37-cent U.S. Flag definitive stamp on June 7, 2002, in Washington, DC. The stamp was designed and illustrated by Terrence W. McCaffrey, U.S. Postal Service, Washington, DC. No official ceremony is planned. The stamp will be issued in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) convertible book of 18 (Item 562600); PSA pane of 20 (Item 562900); PSA convertible book of 10 (Item 670600); PSA vending book of 20 (Item 670700); PSA double-sided book of 20 (Item 670800); PSA convertible book of 20 (Item 670900); PSA coil of 100 (Item 780100); PSA coil of 3,000 (Item 780200); PSA coil of 10,000 (Item 780300); water-activated gum (WAG) coil of 100 (Item 780500); WAG coil of 3,000 (Item 780600); and WAG coil of 10,000 (Item 780700). Items 780300 and 780600 will be available for nationwide sale on June 7, 2002. Items 562600, 562900, 670600, 670700, 670800, 670900, 780100, 780200, 780500 and 780700 will be available for sale at later date. The stars and stripes of "Old Glory" are featured on this definitive stamp. |

SDOs will not receive an automatic distribution of Item 780500. Automatic distributions will be provided to APDs and SSCs; however, these shipments will not be completed until June 26, 2002.
SDOs requiring quantities of Item 780500 must order them from the appropriate APD using a separate PS Form 17, Stamp Requisition. For fulfilling orders from SDOs, the San Francisco, Chicago, Memphis, and New York APDs will each receive 44,000 coils, and the Denver APD will receive 16,000 coils.
Post Offices requiring quantities of Item 780500 must order them from their designated SDO using a separate PS Form 17. SDOs must not distribute these coils to Post Offices before May 28, 2002.
Authorized philatelic centers requiring Item 780500 must order from their designated SDO using PS Form 17.
Post Offices requiring additional coils must requisition them from their designated SDO using a PS Form 17. SDOs requiring additional coils must order them from the appropriate APD using PS Form 17.
SDOs will receive two waves of automatic distributions for this definitive stamp in WAG coils of 3,000.
Wave 1 began shipment May 13, 2002, and will complete shipment May 28, 2002. Wave 2 will begin shipment June 11, 2002, and will complete shipment June 30, 2002. Master carton size is 64 coils.
Post Offices requiring quantities of Item 780600 must order them from their designated SDO using a separate PS Form 17. SDOs must not distribute these coils to Post Offices before May 28, 2002.

For fulfilling supplemental orders from SDOs, the San Francisco, Chicago, Memphis, and New York APDs will each receive 6,000 coils, and the Denver APD will receive 2,880 coils. For fulfilling supplemental orders from APDs, the Kansas City SSC will receive 30,000 additional coils.
SDOs will not receive an automatic distribution of Item 780700. Automatic distributions will be provided to APDs and SSCs; however, these shipments will not be completed until June 26, 2002.
