DECEMBER 2004

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  12/26/04 - Recently discovered plate number combinations have been added to the 37¢ Garden Flower Bouquet Convertible Booklet pages. Renate Fearonce in Tucson has the P77777 and Donna Rajotte in Providence has the P88888.

Catalog numbers for the Santa Ornaments have been added to the spreadsheets.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  12/9/04 - Scott Publishing Company has assigned catalog numbers to the Santa Claus Ornaments stamps. Click on the links for the Double-sided CB 20, Vending and ATM formats.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  12/1/04 - The 37¢ Santa Ornaments ATM pane has 12 face different stamps. The pane is arranged to give the overall appearance of a wooden box holding the individual ornaments.  There are 'slats' to divide the compartments and as a result of the horizontal and vertical lines, there are 12 different designs on the pane.  Click HERE for a detailed look.

NOVEMBER 2004

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  11/29/04 - Scans have been posted for the Santa Ornaments stamps and a few technical details that disagree with the Postal Bulletin anouncement have been changed.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  11/28/04 - The 2005 Scott Catalogue added a die cut variety on the 1998 32¢ Wreath Convertible Booklet. It lists all five plate number combinations with both die cut varieties. So far, only plate B222222 has been confirmed with both varieties.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  11/23/04 - A new version of the 37¢ Snowy Egret end card has been found with the UPC (Bar Code) printed in the lower right hand corner.

Data pages have been posted for the Christmas Issues, although I don't have scans for the Santa Ornaments yet.  They are the Monaco Madonna and Child, Santa Claus Ornaments, Double-sided CB 20, Vending and ATM.

Renate Fearonce in Tucson and Donna Rajotte in Providence both have all the new Christmas stamps.

OCTOBER 2004

SEPTEMBER 2004

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  9/20/04 - A new version of the 37¢ Snowy Egret end card has been found without printing on the reverse.  Everything on the front appears the same.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  9/18/04 - Donna Rajotte send an end card for the 37¢ US Flag Convertible Booklet reprint from Avery Dennison and it has been scanned.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  9/15/04 - Scott Publishing Company has assigned catalog numbers to the 37¢ M. J. Heade 'Giant Magnolias' Convertible Booklet and the 37¢ US Flag Convertible Booklet reprint from Avery Dennison.

Robert Rabinowitz reports plate P55555 on the 37¢ Garden Flower Bouquet convertible booklet.

JULY 2004

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  7/31/04 - The Wilma Rudolph end card has been posted.  Thanks to Donna Rajotte for the most recent end cards.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  7/26/04 - Scans have been posted for the 23¢ Wilma Rudolph Convertible and Vending Booklets.

Available details on an unannounced 37¢ US Flag Convertible Booklet reprint from Avery Dennison have been posted.  Both Donna Rajotte and Renate Fearonce have them.

Tentative technical details have been posted for the M. J. Heade 'Giant Magnolias" painting stamp to be issued August 12.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  7/19/04 - Technical details for the 23¢ Wilma Rudolph Convertible and Vending Booklets are posted.  Scott Publishing Company assigned catalog numbers today.  The Convertible booklet is 3436c and the Vending booklet is BK279A, with one each 3436a and 3436b.

JUNE 2004

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  6/19/04 - The United States Stamp Society has a new publication concerning booklets. U.S. Booklets and Booklet Panes, 1900-1978, Volume 1: Flat Plate Regular Issues by Donald B. Littlefield and Sam Frank. Describes the 185 different complete booklets in which these issues were sold to the public and the forerunner items that preceded them. 290 pages, Paperbound. wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  6/18/04 - As a result of an inquiry by Steve Esrati, I have added several definitions to the glossary.

Ronald Blanks sent a note and a scan indicating that Jay Bigalke purchased a booklet of the 2002 United We Stand stamps in Madison, Wisconsin on or before January 29th, 2002 and had one cancelled with that date. The information on the data page has been updated.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  6/15/04 - Scott Publishing Company has assigned catalog numbers to the Lewis and Clark prestige booklet.  The booklet is BK297 and the pane of 10 is 3856b.

Robert Rabinowitz reports that he found the 37¢ Snowy Egret convertible booklet with plate P33333.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  6/9/04 - Ronald Blanks found an error in the listing of the die-cut gauge on the 33¢ Fruit Berries vending booklet which should be 9.5 x 10.

MAY 2004

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  5/29/04 - Renate Fearonce in Tucson has the 37¢ Garden Flower Bouquet convertible booklet with plate P33333.  Renate also has the Lewis and Clark booklet.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  5/17/04 - All the "G" Rate Change booklets have been posted, along with a comparison page.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  5/12/04 - Donna Rajotte in Providence reports that she has the Lewis and Clark Prestige Booklet in stock.

A phone call today from an official at Avery Security Printing confirmed that the correct spelling of the press that they use for printing US Stamps is Dia Nippon Kiko.   A few places on the site had it spelled wrong, and have been corrected.

Technical details and distribution information on the $8.95 Lewis and Clark Prestige Booklet have been posted.

APRIL 2004

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  4/23/04 - Donna Rajotte in Providence has the 37¢ Garden Flower Bouquet Convertible Booklet with plate P44444.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  4/14/04 - Plate P44444 has been found on the 37¢ Garden Flower Bouquet Convertible Booklet.  Robert Rabinowitz reported the P33333 a couple of weeks ago.

By now everyone should be aware that the USPS is planning to charge a premium of $1.55 ($8.95) on the Lewis and Clark Prestige Booklet.  A printing of only 1 million booklets is planned.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  4/5/04 - Donna Rajotte in Providence has the 37¢ Garden Flower Bouquet Convertible Booklet with plate P22222.

A tip from a reader resulted in the discovery of 3 different color shades on the back of the 2002 37¢ Antique Toys end cards.

MARCH 2004

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  3/16/04 - Scans and data for the 37¢ Garden Flower Bouquet Convertible Booklet, to which Scott Publishing has assigned number 3638a, are now posted.  Two numbers are known,  P11111 and P22222.

Both Linn's Stamp News and Stamp Collector have reported on fake 37¢ US Flag stamps which are in the convertible booklet format with plate B5555.  The fakes do not have tagging, but the paper has hi-brite features.  The USPS micro-printing is also missing on the fakes, which were sold extensively on eBay.

FEBRUARY 2004

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)  2/10/04 - Scott Publishing Company has assigned catalog numbers to two booklets.  #3830a goes to the Snowy Egret and #3833a goes to the Candy Hearts Love booklet.

Renate Fearonce in Tucson has the Egret convertible booklet with plate P11111.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)    2/9/04 - A new feature that several people have asked for has been added. Down near the bottom of the page is a pink box that you can use to sign up to be notified when this page is updated.  There is also a box on the PNC3 home page for the same purpose.  Clicking on the 'USA booklets' tab on that page will also tell you when the booklet pages were last updated.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)    2/6/04 - The 37¢ Snowy Egret end card has been scanned and is now online. Lowell Handberg was the first to call my attention to printing on the reverse side which has been 'x'ed out.  All end cards found so far have the double sided printing.

JANUARY 2004

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)    1/31/04 - Scans and data for the 37¢ Snowy Egret Convertible Booklet are now posted.  I don't yet have an end card.  Two numbers are known.   P11111, first reported by Renate Fearonce in Tucson back in December and P22222 which was reported a few days ago by Alan Thomson.  Renate has the P1s and Donna Rajotte in Providence has the P2s.

In the January 5th edition of Stamp Collector, the discovery of a previously unknown plate combination was announced on the 29¢ Fishing Flies unfolded pane. That number, A22132, has been added to the affected pages.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)    1/24/04 - Both Doug Iams and Chet Chapman report the discovery of plate V2222 on the double sided CB20 Antique Toys. Chet notes that he found them in a supermarket mixed with V1s.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)    1/17/04 - Lowell Handberg was the first to report a second End Card variety on the 37¢ US Flag convertible booklet of 10.

wpe1.jpg (790 bytes)    1/16/04 - Donna Rajotte in Providence reports she has plate S5555 on the double sided CB20 US Flag and V1111 on the new 37c Candy Hearts convertible booklet.
